Ed Masuga & Leah Lowthorp — “Kiss Me It’s New Years Eve”

This December, Splendor was honored to welcome Ed Masuga and Leah Lowthorp onto the bus for a session down at the racetrack.

The duo met in college, and honed their blend singing Peter, Paul and Mary covers at what Leah describes as a “big, clothing optional, hippie co-op in Berkeley.” They reunited in 2010 and are currently recording Ed’s latest project. The empty parking lot of Golden Gate Fields has been the location for numerous Splendor shows (and many splendorous encounters with law enforcement), and while shows here are notoriously hard to find, we keep returning because the view is unbeatable it is so wonderfully easy to park.

On the evening we filmed Ed and Leah, the sky was heavy with blue grey clouds, waves lapped at the rocky shore and Splendor All Around prepared to kiss 2015 goodbye. It’s been a wild one. Kiss Me It’s New Year’s proudly the joins the four or so other songs about the holiday that exist out there, on the heels of millions of Christmas anthems.

Thanks to Ed and Leah and Happy New Year!
